Why do chickens need grit?

What's the difference between oyster shell and grit?

Flint grit is insoluble and remains in the gizzard permanently to grind food. Chickens need both - this product conveniently provides both in one mix.

How much should I provide?

Offer free-choice access at all times in a separate feeder or dish. Chickens will naturally regulate their intake based on individual needs. A small flock of 4-6 birds typically consumes approximately 1.5kg every 2-3 months, though consumption varies with diet and laying activity.

Should grit be separate from their feed?
